Gue pertama sadar akan 100 tahun kebangkitan bangsa tahun lalu, pas lihat iklan Visit Indonesia 2008. Don’t actually understand why all these prospective tourists from overseas need to know about 100 years of our nation awakening. It’s fabulous for us, but not for foreigners.
I had my usual partners meeting (tanggal merah paling enak ngobrol seharian dengan 2 cewek rewel lain yang pegang kendali QM hehehehe). We were trapped just before Semanggi between hundreds of busses carrying people into Gelora Bung Karno.
We watched the big event on TV at my parents’ house in Kuningan area. At first it was fantastic. We cheered as the police and army officers in their fancy coloured parachutes landed perfectly on the target. The traditional dances were great! My daughter and I got into the dance moves. Dena has this thing about singing & dancing (princess tea kan?).
Then after a while it got weird. We went home to Cibubur and this thing is still on! I looked at all these people on TV, thought of how much money is spent and… how is this suppose to make us change the country?
Seriously.
I actually seriously believe that we do have to go through another nation awakening. This will have to be done through ACTIONS!
A friend asked me, what is it that I’m going to contribute to this nation – as part of this whole nation awakening thing. Here’s what I believe in, from financial planning perspective.
I believe that to make a great nation, we need to strengthen the middle class people.
The rich are taken care of – they can hire the best investment bankers to work on their money, they probably parked their money in Hong Kong or Singapore already.
The poor – well we need to empower them. This should be done through microfinance and proper distribution of charity works.
The middle class people? This is us! We need to learn how to take care of ourselves! Financial planning can do this to our money.
We need to make money and ‘safe’ enough for our future and ensure that the wealth creation process is followed by wealth growing process.
This is my vision.
It’s a matter of time to make it happen.
It is already happening, one client at a time…
