It’s very interesting how our children react to events occurring in our lives.
My brother got married in May. Within 2 months, Don’s brother also got married.
Dena, the princess like that she is, cannot help but thinking that getting married means you’ll be princess for a day. Her aunt Femmy was wearing bright blue Sundanese kebaya together with a traditional head piece. Aunt Fina was wearing red and gold Padangese dress with large bling bling sunting. She thinks they were very pretty and wear tiara like princesses.
Interestingly, Azra had a different reaction. Azra was saying,
“Nanti kalau aku sudah besar, aku kan ‘undangan’ juga.”
maksudnya menikah.
“jadi aku nanti gak tinggal di rumah Mama lagi ya Ma?”
Don and I were so fascinated. So this is how a child views the world. He looks up to the people around him. What we do today will influence how Azra will cope on his own in the future.
Apparently Azra noticed that. Every family as different value of course. In our family, both Don’s and mine, being independent and make in on our own is a very big deal. Don and I moved into this tiny rented house in Kota Wisata Cibubur just four months after our wedding. My brother Wido immediately moved out of my parents’ home. He and Femmy are now renting at an apartment block in the city. Dimas, Don’s brother lives and works in Singapore, so he’s been on his own for sometimes.
We turned to Azra and began to discuss why it’s important that he will also move out of our house one day. Azra seems to enjoy the idea. Before we realise it… Dena was crying and said….
“Aku gak mau berpisah sama Mas Azraa…. huaaaaa….”
we burst into laughters…
Smiling happily Azra said to me,
“Ah dia gak ngerti ya Ma?”
Hihihi… sok gede ya?
