It’s 2AM Sunday morning. Dondi n I are still talking.(tenang! Gak ada yg masuk angin :p)
Don just got this book Reality Check by Guy Kawasaki. He found it very entertaining (yes, we are that geeky! That’s how compatible we are hehehehe…)
Don hates it when people think being “entrepreneur” is the only way to go. Sometimes we meet this kind of people and they look down on my husband because he is “pegawai”.
I found hillarious, because ofcourse Don is my investor for all my busineses. That means he owns several businesses, he just let’s me play with all of them :))
And hey, Don doesn’t open up his own business and he still makes more money than me. Apparently Guy supports this, there is this thing called “Intrapreneur”. It’s when some very rich people hire you and give you loads of cash to start a business. It’s the same fun with starting your own business, only with less risk, not pouring your own money and better paycheck :) sial :)
We’re discussing Mission Statement. These little discussions are always so much fun and we always end up taking new ideas for the businesses we each take care of.
Don asked me, (yes he asked me this at 2AM!) “What’s your mission statement?”
I replied proudly,
“QM’s Mission Statements are :
1) To provide financial education for all
2) To provide excelence in financial planning
3) To provide… “
Don didn’t let me finish.
“Too long… You don’t need a mission statement. You need something that represents the company. Guy believes that Mission Statement is a 50words mambo jambo. Nobody remembers or understands it.”
Try these out : (taken from Guy Kawasaki’s Reality Check : Chapter 5 Mantras for Dummies p23)
Fedex : Peace of Mind
Nike : Authentic Athletic Performance
Target : Democratize Design
eBay : Democratize ecommerce
Yaiks!
So we laughed about it and agreed that QM’s Mission Statement is loud and clear : FINANCE SHOULD BE PRACTICAL!
Nothing summarises QM better than that.
Don asked me again, “Now, translate that into Bahasa Indonesia?”
Ergh…
“Keuangan Seharusnya Praktis” Hehehheheh… Not working!
Let me say it again. If you understand it, than what we do is very clear…
This is our Mission Statement.
Finance Should be Practical!
