I spoke on Financial Clinic a couple of weeks ago. I admit, I have all the motivation I needed to get my finances going. But for the Debt Diet Challenge… I’m in limbo.
I don’t see how I should get into shape.
I’m in my thirties now. I’m married with two kids. My job doesn’t require me to look like a 39 kg supermodel. I’m too comfortable. My weight is just not my concern. I just simply couldn’t be bothered.
Just when I thought I could give up so easily… something comes along…
One weekend, my father-in-law, the ever flamboyant Papa Hardjoko, showed us his new pair of jeans. Papa has been known as a food lover. Treating people for fancy dinner is his trademark. As a result he has a growing belly. Well this weekend he’s showing us his new pair of jeans 2 sizes down! Papa – like many of his friends over 50s – has been worried about his health for years. He took that as motivation and go on a proper wheat bread diet.
Don and I cheered him for his effort to get fit. We sat down one night and discussed it. No one else love fancy food the way Papa does. If he can get fit, why can’t we (especially me!) get fit??? To keep me into focus, I have been gunned down by illness more often. I had bacterial and viral infection twice within the month. This is not a good sign.
If health doesn’t motivate me… vanity should!
Both my brother and Don’s brother are finally getting married mid this year.
I’ll be in the spotlight : I’ll be the sister of the groom! This is scary. I cannot imagine myself in a fancy kebaya looking like a ‘lemper’! Phew!
Today is the last day of my resting period. The doctor actually ordered me to complete rest for an entire week. So the kids are jumping up and down having me around for the entire week. Tomorrow I’ll be back. And going to the gym will be on my top priority. I should also start with my healthy food program.
This will be hard for me. If two kinds of motivation cannot make me change the way I work with my body… I don’t know what will :) hehehe (yes Ndari, I will get myself a personal trainer! You just wait and see okay :P )
Find your own motivation to change. It’s a matter of habit to keep it going. Now that is another story to tell.
